Overview
The Senate Select Committee on Women’s Health is calling for submissions and I encourage our community to have its say.
Building on the Albanese Labor Government’s nearly $800 million investment in women’s health, the committee will identify priorities for future action.
The inquiry will examine critical women’s health issues, including postpartum health, women’s pain, fertility treatment, assisted reproduction and medical device regulation.
How to get involved:
The best way to contribute is to make a submission. The committee wants to hear from women, families, health professionals, experts and community organisations about what is working, what is not and what needs to change.
Submissions don’t have to be long or detailed. Your submission can be as simple as telling your story.
It could address:
• experiences of pain, fertility care or the postpartum period
• barriers to affordable, timely and appropriate care
• what works and what should change.

Submission closing date
Submissions close on 9 October 2026. You can request an extension by emailing the secretariat at [email protected].
Following the submission deadline, the committee will review the submissions.
Public hearings
Once the committee has reviewed the submissions, they will travel across Australia to hear from women and health professionals. Individuals and organisations who provide submissions to the inquiry may be invited to give evidence at the public hearings.
Hearing details will be published on the committee’s website once confirmed.
Reporting
Following public hearings, the committee will prepare a report with recommendations for government. The report is due on 18 August 2027.
